Land Registry to reduce fees by 10 per cent.

31 July 2012

The Land Registry has announced plans to reduce its fees by an average of 10 per cent from October.

The restructuring apply to information services and scale fees which will be reduced by £1 and £10 respectively. Fees on register alterations will be reduced to a fixed rate of £40.

In a statement this morning, the Land Registry said: “Reducing our fees enables us to pass on savings we have made as a result of a major restructuring programme to reduce costs across the organisation – our ‘Accelerated Transformation Programme’. We are lowering scale and fixed fees for applications relating to every statutory service.”

The Land Registry announced the Accelerated Transformation Programme in October 2009. The five year, cost-cutting programme was developed in response to the £129.9m loss that followed the market crash in 2008.
